Ducshop 999S Vs Ducati 999R
 Most Ducshop customers, looking to upgrade their pride and joy, opt for a balance of power and appearance. Not Sammy Brezenak. He simply wanted more speed and horsepower.
Sammy loves to ride and ride fast so it wasn't long before he'd outgrown his stock Ducati 999. Even the Termignoni slip ons didn't give him the horsepower he wanted so he was left with two options: buy a 999R or rebuild the stock engine. When he couldn't get the trade-in price he was looking for he brought the bike to Ducshop.
 After a consultation, determining the amount Sammy wanted to spend, Mark decided to blue print the engine and replace the slip-ons with a complete system, aiming for 135 to 140 h/p. He wanted to make the bottom end stronger so he chose Pankl titanium rods and modified the crankshaft to a Superbike spec "A" crank, taking off almost 400 grams. This was balanced with Pistal 13:1 forged pistons with stage three porting and a competition valve job, topped with "R" cams.
 We installed a Ducshop crankcase breather conversion to deal with the extra crankcase pressure and a Yoyodyne slipper clutch.
For the exhaust we chose Leo Vince's new 57mm equal length full system and the fuel map adjusted with Dynojet Power Commander 3.
As Sammy does a lot of miles - over 12,000 in 9 months - we also installed bar risers and a taller windscreen. We made the rear spring stiffer (a common request of Ducati Superbike owners) and changed the suspension to improve the comfort and handling while making it easier to steer.
The moment Sammy returned to his office he called Mark to thank him, saying it had improved the bike everywhere, with more speed, less vibration and smoother acceleration…. "it was even a better street bike".
Please note: This low dyno reading is due to a 1.06 correction factor because of our current weather conditions in Georgia. Without the correction factor we predict the reading to be well into the 140s.
