Motorcycle Helmet Size Guides & Manuals
← All Product Guides & Manuals
A helmet’s labeled size is only a starting point. Head shape, helmet model and generation also matter. Use the manufacturer’s sizing information and complete the fit checks in the correct manual before riding.
Find the model before the manual
Read the helmet label and note the full model, size, generation and market version. For example, a Shoei X-Fifteen manual is different from a GT-Air II manual, and NEXX X.R3R instructions should not be substituted for X.T1 instructions. Match any visor, pinlock or interior component to the helmet it was designed for.
Use measurements and a physical fit check
Use a flexible measuring tape and follow the brand’s measurement diagram. Compare the result with the chart for that helmet, then try it on and perform the manufacturer’s retention and movement checks. Do not choose a helmet solely by a conversion from another brand or by the amount of room it appears to have.
Between-size advice varies by manufacturer. Use the specific brand’s instructions rather than applying a universal “size up” or “size down” rule. If the helmet creates painful pressure or remains loose, get help selecting the appropriate size or shape.
Older helmets and X-Lite models
Some models in our catalog, including X-Lite X-803 and X-903, need older documentation. If you cannot locate a manual that matches the exact model, contact Ducshop with a photo of the label. Do not use instructions for a newer model simply because the name looks similar.
Helmets are non-returnable and non-refundable due to safety concerns for any future wearer. Confirm sizing and the applicable product details before ordering.

Printable motorcycle helmet fit checklist
A printable preparation guide for choosing a helmet. Use the size chart and fit instructions for the exact helmet model.
-
Record the exact helmet
Write down the brand, full model name, generation and market version. Similar model names do not establish that manuals, shields or replacement liners are interchangeable.
-
Measure, then compare
Use a cloth tape just above the eyebrows and around the fullest rear part of the head. Record the measurement and its unit, then compare it with the exact model's chart. Head shape and physical fit matter as well as the labeled size.
-
Check fit before riding
Follow the manufacturer's fitting and retention checks. Look for even, snug contact without painful pressure points or unwanted movement. Do not choose solely by the size of your previous helmet. Ask for help if a helmet remains loose or causes pressure.
-
Keep the helmet as designed
Do not cut, compress or alter the protective liner to make a helmet fit. Use only manufacturer-specified fit adjustments and compatible components. A general checklist cannot confirm that a particular helmet fits you.
-
Before ordering
Confirm Ducshop's applicable helmet return terms before purchasing. For sizing help, provide the model, listed size options and your measurements. This checklist contains no brand-specific size conversions.
