Look at tire condition and check pressure by the method in your motorcycle manual. Inspect the area beneath the bike for fresh leaks. Record concerns rather than assuming an unfamiliar mark or fluid is harmless. Have damage or unexplained leakage assessed before riding.
Check controls, lights and visibility
Check the operation of hand and foot controls, brakes, lights, indicators and horn as the manual directs. Set mirrors for a useful view. Look for damaged, obstructed or binding controls. Do not ride if braking, steering or another essential function is doubtful.
Review fluids, luggage and readiness
Check specified fluid levels with the bike positioned as required. Confirm luggage is secure and within the bike's limits. Follow model-specific stand, drive-system and fastener checks. Wear appropriate riding equipment and resolve any warning or unusual condition before departure.
