Ducshop · Buying & fitment guide
A complete seat, a replacement cover and a gel insert solve different problems. Our universal C-Racer seats are custom-fit components, so measure and plan the mounting before ordering.
Updated November 6, 2026. Buying guidance; use the exact component manufacturer’s installation instructions.
Choose a seat, cover or insert
| Product | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Complete custom seat | Seat pan and seating assembly as listed. May require fabrication or separate mounting hardware. |
| Seat and tail fairing | Listed seating and bodywork components. Confirm paint preparation and all supplied pieces. |
| Replacement seat cover | Upholstery for a compatible existing seat. Does not automatically include a new pan or foam. |
| Gel insert | An insert for a compatible seat modification, rather than a complete replacement seat. |
Measure the motorcycle and seat
Check the actual frame or subframe dimensions, seat length, width and profile, mounting-point locations, tank junction and the planned tail section. Compare the listed measurements and ask for missing dimensions before purchasing. A cafe racer or scrambler style name does not establish fitment for a particular motorcycle.
Our C-Racer listings explicitly describe universal custom-fit seats rather than model-specific bolt-on replacements. The listed products differ in pan shape, foam and mounting-point layout. Do not transfer the dimensions or mounting assumptions from one seat design to another.
Plan mounting and clearance
Confirm the brackets, fasteners, latch or retention arrangement required for the project. Our current universal seat listings state that mounting hardware, installation brackets and instructions are not supplied. Arrange the installation plan before choosing a seat.
Have the installer check clearance around the tire and suspension travel, battery and electrical components, exhaust, bodywork and passenger equipment where applicable. A seat change does not by itself establish suitability for carrying a passenger. Avoid modifying structural motorcycle parts without a qualified assessment.
Select the actual upholstery option
Use the selected SKU, upholstery color, stitching pattern and thread color to identify the item being ordered. A representative product photo may show another finish. Some listed seat-and-tail combinations include a separate unpainted tail section; check the exact description for preparation and finishing requirements.
Seat height, shape and foam affect the riding position together with the handlebars and footpegs. Review our motorcycle ergonomics and comfort guide when planning connected changes. No single seat design guarantees comfort for every rider.
Before you order
- Record the seat dimensions and motorcycle mounting measurements.
- Confirm exactly which seat, pan, foam, cover or tail pieces are supplied.
- Identify separate hardware and any fabrication or upholstery work needed.
- Confirm the selected finish, current availability and return conditions before modification.
For model-specific covers or inserts, verify the original seat version as well as the motorcycle model and year. Aftermarket pans and reshaped foam can change the fit of a replacement cover.
Common questions
Does universal mean no modification is needed?
No. These custom-fit seats require dimension, mounting and clearance checks. Our current C-Racer listings state that custom fitting is required.
Does a seat cover include the seat?
Only if the listing expressly says so. Read the supplied contents before comparing a cover with a complete seat.
