Choose the mounting system before choosing the finish.

The starting point

A footpeg fits its intended bracket or rearset—not simply a motorcycle brand. Confirm rider versus passenger location, adapter requirements and whether the part replaces an original peg or a proprietary rearset component.

Separate rider and passenger fitment

Rider and passenger pegs can use different pivots, springs, stops and brackets. A matching finish does not make them interchangeable. Identify the exact location and whether the original brackets are still fitted. A bike already equipped with aftermarket rearsets needs those rearsets’ replacement parts or explicitly approved alternatives.

Understand what the adapter changes

An adapter joins the peg to the motorcycle’s mounting bracket. Depending on the design, the peg and adapter are separate purchases. Check left/right quantity and any model-specific hardware requirements. The adapter may determine position or folding behavior, so inspect the complete assembly drawing instead of choosing only from the peg photo.

Choose grip and support for your riding

A wider platform can change boot support, while aggressive teeth, rubber inserts and peg shape change the contact surface. More aggressive grip is not automatically more comfortable. Consider your boots, wet-weather use and whether you need to move your feet frequently. For position changes, evaluate the reach to both pedals as well as knee bend.

Review the installed control relationship

A lower or offset peg can alter cornering clearance and the relationship to the shift and brake pedals. Confirm approved adjustment ranges and folding function. Use the exact installation instructions for springs, retainers and fasteners. Have a qualified technician address pedal adjustment and verify that the controls operate freely.

Common questions

Do new footpegs always need adapters?

No. Some are direct replacements and others require separate adapters. Read the exact kit contents.

Will touring pegs lower my feet?

Not necessarily. Platform size and foot position are separate characteristics; verify any offset or adjustment in the specifications.
