Ducshop · European motorcycles · Buying & fitment guide
The right lifting setup starts at the motorcycle’s approved support points.
Match the motorcycle mounting interface and the stand together. A spool’s nominal thread size alone does not confirm thread pitch, bolt length, offset, clearance or stand compatibility.
Identify the type of rear support
A conventional rear stand may engage swingarm spools with hooks or use approved pads. A single-sided swingarm stand uses a different interface, typically a model-specific pin and correct approach side. A stand that lifts one European bike is not automatically suitable for another, even if the bikes are similar in size.
Verify the complete spool fitment
Check the exact motorcycle application, thread diameter and pitch, supplied bolt length and any spacer. M6, M8 and M10 describe different nominal sizes, not a universal fitment system. Do not force a bolt, substitute an arbitrary longer bolt or stack improvised washers to create clearance. Follow the kit’s model-specific instructions.
Match the stand’s engagement
Confirm that the stand hooks securely engage the spool shape at the correct width. Consider swingarm, axle, chain and exhaust clearance. A protective axle slider can look like a lifting bobbin without being an approved lift point. Use a component for lifting only when the manufacturer identifies it for that purpose.
Plan stable use and service access
Use the stand according to its instructions on an appropriate level surface. Confirm the required lifting sequence, assistance and front/rear support arrangement before lifting. Choose a stand for the work you intend to do; a setup that supports the motorcycle may still obstruct wheel or axle removal. Never improvise a lifting procedure from a product photo.
Quick comparison
| Component | Confirm before ordering |
|---|---|
| Swingarm spool/bobbin | Exact application, thread pitch, fastener and offset. |
| Hook-type rear stand | Spool engagement, width and clearance. |
| Single-sided stand | Pin size, supported motorcycle and insertion side. |
| Axle protection slider | Explicit lifting approval if you intend to use it as a lift point. |

Common questions
Are axle sliders and stand spools interchangeable?
No. A similar shape does not establish that a slider can carry lifting loads.
Can I buy spools by thread diameter alone?
No. Pitch, fastener engagement, offset and application-specific clearance also matter.
